Valencia CF won 1-0 against RCD Mallorca on LALIGA EA Sports Matchday 29 at Mestalla. Diego López scored the winning goal at the start of the second half, giving the team three crucial points to consolidate their momentum.
Valencia CF started with a good feeling, producing a collective move that almost opened the scoring. Javi Guerra looked for Diego López behind the defence, but the Asturian was unable to control his pass, which would have left him one-on-one with the opposition goalkeeper.
Shortly after, Javi Guerra hit the post. The midfielder turned around and the ball, after hitting a defender, almost surprised goalkeeper Greif, who minutes later kept out a superb header from Umar Sadiq.
The Valencia CF forward beat the RCD Mallorca defence in the air and headed on target, but the goalkeeper stopped the ball on the line.
Valencia CF dominated the first half in terms of chances. RCD Mallorca had a shot from the edge of the box that went wide, and after the break, another powerful hit that Mamardashvili saved with a great display of his reflexes.
In the 50th minute, Diego López finally put Valencia CF ahead, extending his individual scoring streak with a stunning goal, sending his shot inside the far post. He finished off a play that started with a recovery by André Almeida.
Moments later, López came very close to scoring the second. Foulquier won the ball back in the midfield, advanced to the byline on the right wing, and his cross was met by the forward at the far post, but the ball went over the bar.
Valencia CF claimed another victory and will face Real Madrid in their next match, away from home on Saturday, April 5th (4:15 p.m.).
